Teacher Incentive Grants

The MSUNER Teacher Incentive Grant:

A Grant Opportunity for Clinical Faculty

The Montclair State University Network for Educational Renewal is offering the MSUNER Teacher Incentive Grant to Clinical Faculty members for the 2009-2010 school year. The purpose of this grant is to encourage teachers to enhance student learning. To accomplish this, a teacher can experiment with new teaching strategies, improve skills, develop a class project, etc.

This grant is for a teacher who would like to work on a specific short-term project. All you need is an idea. Here are a few examples to start you thinking:

• Using Music and Movement to Embed Learning
• I’m an Entomologist
• Using Film Study to Enhance Literacy Instruction
• Wii Academy
• Fun with Fractions

Projects will be funded in the range of $100 – $200, depending on the project. Funding may only be used for resources. The grant will give you a chance to try out a new initiative. If you think about it, you try out new ideas every year. Why not take this opportunity to receive some funding for your idea.

The requirements for Network funding include:
1. Active Clinical Faculty status
2. All recipients must submit a W-9 form to receive funds (W-9 will be emailed to all grant recipients at time of notification.)
3. A brief written report will be due at the completion of the project but no later than June 1, 2010. The report will include a log of expenditures and receipts.

Proposals must be submitted electronically. The RFP is available online at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=mI9_2bPPHkiaN3oY5bp2XtYA_3d_3d

There will be two submission dates for the 2009 – 2010 school year:

Fall submission: proposals will be accepted through September 30, 2009, with notification of awards made by October 9, 2009. (Due to technical difficulties with the MSUNER website, we have extended the fall submission date to October 9, 2009, with notification of awards by October 16, 2009.)

Spring submission: proposals will be accepted through January 15, 2010, with notification of awards made by January 22, 2010.

A committee will review all proposals. Selection will be based on how strongly the project affects student learning and achievement. Grants will be distributed throughout the Network.

If you have any questions about this grant opportunity, please contact Cheryl Hopper by email, hopperc@mail.montclair.edu, or phone 973-655-7641.

REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS!

Teacher Study Group Grants Available to East Orange Teachers and Administrators!

The Montclair State University Network for Educational Renewal (MSUNER) of the Montclair State University Center of Pedagogy welcomes you to apply for a Teacher Study Group Grant (TSG) for the 2009-2010 academic year.

A TSG is meant to provide an opportunity for teachers to take responsibility for their own professional development and renewal by engaging in collaborative learning and inquiry that will advance the goal of simultaneous renewal of the schools and the education of educators. In other words, it gives a group of educators a chance to work and learn together about a topic of mutual interest.

Since the possibilities are endless for the design and mission of the grant, let your imagination, interests, and needs guide your thinking when writing a proposal. The study group context provides a wonderful vehicle for collegial professional development to assist in and redesign teaching.

Each member district is entitled to $1,000 in funding for the 2009-2010 academic year. For each district, funds will be divided among the number of study groups that are accepted and by the nature of the project. The maximum funding for any one study group grant is $500.

Teacher Study Group Grant proposals are due October 15, 2009.

Please contact District Coordinator Koree Knight @ k.knight@eastorange.k12.nj.us for a copy of the RFP and if you have any questions!
