From MSUNER Director, Cheryl Hopper
I am excited to announce the Teachers As Scholars program for the 2009-2010 school year. The program provides MSUNER school teachers and administrators an opportunity to immerse themselves in scholarly topics and issues in small, liberal arts seminars offered by MSU faculty in the Arts and Sciences. The seminars are offered free of charge to participating teachers and administrators and take place on the MSU campus. As you are aware, all of the MSUNER districts have endorsed this program, pledging to provide substitute coverage for teachers who wish to attend any of the seven seminars being offered.
This year's seminar topics are:
October 5 and 21
Cleopatra: Images of Female Power
October 23
Exploring Arcadia (includes ticket to the play at MSU's Kasser Theater on the evening of November 19)
October 29 and November 10
Ten Things to Love About Shakespeare
November 17 and December 8
Evolution and Brains: Why They Matter in Everyday Life
January 5 and 29
Teaching Biology Without (Unwarranted) Trepidation
March 5 and 25
Isabel Allende: 21st Century Scheherazade
March 12
From Skin Cells to Stem Cells
For all seminars, breakfast and lunch will be served and parking passes for the Red Hawk Deck will be provided.
Before the seminar date, all participants will be contacted by email with directions to the MSU campus and the seminar location.
